add exclusions, e.g. to not show PDF or txt files

All file types showup for any particular setting. Right now, selecting "Documents" shows all Word docs, Acrobat PDFs, txt docs, MS Excel docs, MS PowerPoint docs etc. A useful feature would be to add exclusions, e.g. to not show PDF or txt files.
